Young Hattie is off to Philadelphia to fulfill her dream of attending her Cousin’s boarding school.  But in short order, she discovers school is nothing like she imagined.  For starters, the girls look down on her and her southern roots.  And as much as Hattie tries, nothing seems to change until she remembers who she is and all that she carries  to Philadelphia with her.
